Turning to social news aggregation website Reddit as one of the promotional tools for the study , many users wondered why Walker specifically needed pictures for her project. Strict privacy was stressed to the Reddit users, noting men looking to participate in the study can do so without uploading photos.

Sociologist Alice Walker gained national attention earlier this week after several news outlets reported she was soliciting photos of penises for her research. The participants were also supposed to measure their penis and answer questions. One question asked participants if they believed their penis size was above average, average, or below average.
